Understand the plant before you specify it

Short guides on how solar-plus-storage, backup, tariffs and charging work together in an Austra system. Written for owners and facility managers, not equipment manuals.

Guides

Start with how the system behaves

What solar-plus-storage actually does

Generation without a battery is a daytime asset. With storage it becomes evening power, backup and a way to dodge peak tariffs.

Photovoltaic modules convert sunlight into DC. Integrated power conversion delivers grid-quality AC, charges a battery and can island the house when the feeder drops. Software decides when to self-consume, export or hold reserve. The result is one plant, not a panel, a box and an app that do not speak.

Backup that starts in milliseconds

A hybrid stack switches the protected circuits to battery the moment voltage collapses, no diesel wait, no manual changeover.

Set a backup reserve in Austra App. The energy system keeps that slice of the battery off limits for daily cycling. When the grid fails, protected loads move to storage automatically. Remaining hours show on the phone so you know whether to shed the AC or keep working.

Tariffs, net metering and when to export

AI dispatch watches your slab, the day’s forecast and the reserve you set, then stores, exports or charges without a spreadsheet.

Indian tariffs are not flat. Evening peaks, time-of-day slabs and net-metering caps change the value of a kilowatt-hour. Austra dispatch uses the tariff you enter at handover plus the weather forecast so the battery fills from midday surplus and covers the expensive hours, instead of dumping everything to the grid at noon.

Charging a car from the same array

Solar-first charging holds the EV when the building load spikes, so the feeder and the air-conditioner are not fighting the car.

The Austra Ev Charging System treats the vehicle as another load on the same bus. The app can pause charging for peak-shave, resume when the roof is producing, and still finish the session before the morning commute.

Most plants are retrofits

Existing roofs, carports and plant rooms can take a hybrid stack. We survey structure, electrical capacity and tariff before we size anything.

You do not need a new building. We check roof load, shade, incomer rating and how the site uses power after dark. Then we specify modules, storage and optional charging so the plant fits the board and the bill, not a catalogue page.

FAQ

Answers before you go solar

The questions households, facility managers and developers ask us most often.

Most residential customers see a 60–80% reduction in electricity bills. Commercial systems typically reach payback in three to five years, depending on tariffs, load shape and how much storage is specified.

Still sizing the load?

Send the bill, the roof and whether you need backup. We will answer with a plant, not a brochure.
